This booklet updates and replaces the earlier version published in 2002 and contains details of the practices and procedures that should be adopted for taking samples for microbiological analysis.

Whilst specific commercial products may be referred to in this document, this does not constitute an endorsement of these products but served only as illustrative examples of the type of products available. Equivalent products may be available and it should be understood that the performance of methods might differ when other materials are used and all should be confirmed by validation of the methods.
